C. David Wharton Memorial Fund
In 2023, the Selinsgrove Farmers’ Market established a scholarship fund for the farmers and vendors currently participating in the market or requiring financial assistance to enable their participation. Funds can be used for vendor fees, advertising, or other items or projects specified to grow and elevate the vendor’s business through the farmers’ market.
Each calendar year, scholarships are given out on a rolling basis to both on- and off-season participants who have filled out an application and sent it to the Selinsgrove Farmers Market Association (SFMA) members for review. SFMA members will award scholarships of up to $100 per applicant. Matching or supplemental funds for the requested project are preferred and encouraged.
David was a baker, a shaker, and a smile maker who brought light and joy to our market each Saturday through his business, David’s Delicious Delights. It was not uncommon to see many of our other market vendors and volunteers walking around each week with different samples of his cakes, cookies, breads, and jams because it simply delighted him to share his knowledge and creations with others (he sold a lot of them too, we promise!).
Selinsgrove Projects Inc. and the Selinsgrove Farmers’ Market Association are proud to set up the memorial fund in David’s name.
