Horace Alleman (who lived in the Snyder Mansion next door) built a small, brick building for his law office on this site;

Milton Herman took down the Alleman office and erected a large building in 1917. There he opened a hardware store in partnership with Frank Bolig. The store was in the front of the building, a store room was in the back. When Bolig died, Herman continued the hardware business, partnering with his brother-in-law, J. Dallas Wetzel;

→ When Herman retired in 1945, the building and business was transferred to the Troxell family, C. J. and son Henry, operating it as a hardware store until 1964;

→ In 1972 the Lowly Clothier was opened there run by Sandra Moore, selling children’s clothing;

→ Owned by the Sunbury Community Hospital, it contained the offices of Dr. Christine Dotterer until 2012;

→ The property is now owned by Robert Grayston. The first floor is being refurbished as a multi-use building by Susquehanna University.
